THE WORK WE DO
The Colorado Springs Quilt Guild has a long history of its members generously making and providing quilts and other quilted projects to those in need in the Colorado Springs area. Over the years, Guild members have made and donated hundreds of quilts —from baby to adult-sized quilts —to various charities. The Guild’s designated charities for 2021 are Habitat for Humanity, Quilts of Valor (QOV) and 7Stars. Donations to other charities that have special ties to our members are also made, as requested.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
The Guild’s members create their quilts using their own materials or they can use fabric that has been generously donated. The Guild is always seeking donations of quilts, fabric, batting and other materials. If you would like to donate please contact the guild at email@example.com.
Our quilters keep on giving, even during the Pandemic! In 2020 CSQG gave quilts to four adults and nine children who were moving into their new homes through the Habitat for Humanity organization. Due to Covid-19 the Seven Stars Foundation could not send the military children to camp the summer of 2020. Instead they planned on sending 60 to the YMCA camp near Deckers in July of 2021. Our guild members met the challange with the help of some generous members from the monument guild and a guild from Massachusetes. Starting this month our committee met at one of our members' home to roll the quilts and stuff them into the backpacks provided by the Seven Stars Foundation. Not only did our guild make enough quilts for the Seven Stars foundation, we also made quilts for the five Habitat families which includes 6 adults and ten children. These quilts will be given to the families this fall when they move into their new homes. We have also been making Quilt of Valor Quilts with the goal of donating ten to veterans this November. As you can see the Community Project Committee has been very busy.
Donated quilts are sized to meet the needs of the recipient. Suggested sizes are:
We alway accept donations of quilting fabric (100% cotton) or 80/20% batting.
The Guild has free quilt patterns available for your personal use only or for making donated quilts.

Habitat for Humanity is a partnership, not a giveaway program—Habitat’s homeowner families buy the houses that Habitat builds and renovates. Habitat homeowners also invest hundreds of hours of their own labor working alongside volunteers. As a result, Habitat for Humanity houses are affordable to low-income families around the world.
The purpose of the Seven Stars Foundation is to make a positive impact on the children of military members which include the fallen, wounded, active, deployed, and reservists. We accomplish this mission by sponsoring the children to YMCA camps across the country for a week where they can establish lasting bonds with new friends.
The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
